Pet Friendly Air Travel
I found this information while just surfing around the web.
Rick Roof has decided to do something very unique, a airline that is pet friendly. About 3 years ago he developed an idea to offer a nationwide pet friendly airline service using small aircraft. In 2000 Companio Air was born.
After careful planning, filing paperwork, and finding financing, Companion Air is getting closer to lift off. The company's planes will consist of single turbo-prop planes, that will hold 6 people and several pets. Passengers will sit in seats up front, while pets will fly in carriers or kennels in the rear. This will enable customers to be closer to their pets and allow them to know their pets are comfortable. During the flight you may have a chance to visit your pooch.
The plane will be able to accomodate small to large kennels ( including #700 series which can hold large dogs, such as Irish Wolfhounds, Mastiffs, etc.).
One disadvantage of using Companion Air will be slower travel time. For instance a trip across country could take up to 2 days versus 5 to 6 hours. However the advantages include, having your pet in the cabin with you, they will executive airports or secondary airports which will be more dog friendly ( even allowing you to walk thru the airport with your pet).
Pricing- tickets will be more expensive than standard airlines but, will significantly less than standard charters.
Right now the first flight is still a few months away. As of right now they due offer temporary shuttle service.
