Do Dogs Get Jealous

Do Dogs Get Jealous?

Well it seems so. Many animal behavior experts agree that dogs experience a wide variety of emotions, such as, jealousy, anger, anxiety, surprise, pride, embarrassment and shame. These emotions in dogs are basically the same feelings we as humans experience.

Some typical signs of jealously can be:

                                                                Sulking
                                                                Snarling
                                                                Growling
                                                                Fighting
                                                                Sluggishness

Alot of times dogs can experience jealously when a new pup is brought into the household. You can avoid this jealousy by using some basic techniques:

Give your pet some extra attention. This will go along way to solving the problem. Make sure your pet knows he/she is just as important now as he/she was before.

Properly socialize your dog with new pup. They will soon become fast friends.

Keep same patterns (walks, feedings, playtime, etc) that you had before your new puppy arrived.

With these few simple guidelines your dog is soon to get over his/her jealous feelings.

Always remember to check with your vet when it comes to your dogs health.
