Dogs can make a great gift but, keep these few items in mind.

No Surprises   make sure that the person you are getting a dog for knows that you are planning to get them a dog as a gift. This way you ensure they want a pet.

Check with the person as to what type of dog they want. Some people want small breeds and some people my want a large breed. You want to make a correct match between dog and owner.
